Winter is knocking on our door, in fact, today was our first snow! I woke up this morning to a winter wonderland…and a drafty house. Before you go out and buy a cheap space heater to fix that draft, you should consider the long term solution of radiant floor heating. If you haven’t started preparing your house for winter, there is still time! Luckily there are still a lot of things you can get done right now.
Space heaters might solve the problem now, but installing under floor heating will not only fix the cold room for good, you won’t have to worry about anything getting knocked over and causing a fire. Most floor heating systems are used in conjunction with a 7 day programmable thermostat, so once the system is installed, you’ll never have to worry about it again! Controlling the temperature by room is a much more efficient usage of energy and you'll be happier too. |

When most of us think about our home heating system, we think of a complicated maze of air ducts, furnaces and vents. The installation of a central heating system is well beyond the expertise of the average home owner, but what about a radiant heating system? Advances in radiant technology have come a long way since radiant underfloor heating was first introduced to North America, and electric radiant systems are environmentally friendly because they run more efficiently than the average gas furnace and run independent of harmful fossil fuels. On top of all that – radiant heat provides unparalleled comfort and even heating that forced air system only dream of providing. A common misconception about radiant heating is that it can only go beneath hard surfaces such as tile. While tile IS a great option coupled with radiant heat, it’s not the only option! Danfoss and Ideal Heat together provide a radiant solution for just about any kind of flooring you can think of. The best part? You can install it yourself! If you want to start small with a bathroom, electric radiant heating systems make it easy to heat small areas by room without affecting the rest of the home. The only problem – once you start with one room, you’ll want radiant heat for the whole house! |
If you are in a new home and this is your
first winter in it, you’ll probably discover a lot
of drafty rooms that you didn’t notice before. Most
houses already come equipped with a furnace, but
getting that heat to the cold spots in your house can
be costly and complicated. One of the great parts of using
under floor heating, is you can install it only in the
places you need it. So if there is an addition on your
house that just doesn’t seem to get enough
heat, it’s time to convert that cold room to a
comfortable electric radiant heat oasis. You’ll
be the envy of all the neighbors!
